Send up to three poems in the spirit of Robert Frost of no more than three pages each;
Include $10/ Reading fee per poem;
Submit two copies of each poem (one without identifying information);
Poems previously entered or published elsewhere may be submitted.
LAWRENCE, Mass., June 20– In recognition of Robert Frost’s exalted status as one of America’s most revered poets and his strong roots in Lawrence,
Mass., the Robert Frost Foundation is offering its annual $1,000 prize
for the best poem in the “spirit of Frost.”
The winner will receive the prestigious Robert Frost Poetry Award and
give a featured reading at the 10th annual Robert Frost Festival in
Lawrence on Saturday, October 28, 2006.
Deadline for submissions is September 15, 2006. This years' judges
will read all poems anonymously and announce the winner at the Festival –
a day of celebrating poetry and Frost’s roots in Lawrence.
A reading of the winning poem will be featured on the Festival program.
Guidelines for the Robert Frost Poetry Award, which annually draws over
600 entries from poets across the United States, include the
opportunity to submit up to three poems of not more that three pages,
and each entry must be written in the “spirit of Robert Frost.” Two
copies of each poem must be submitted, with the poet’s name, address,
email and phone number included on only one of the copies. Poets retain
copyright of their work, and work previously submitted or published
elsewhere is eligible for submission. Manuscripts will not be
returned.
The postmark deadline for submission by mail or email is September 15,
2006. Entrants must enclose a $10 reading fee per poem submitted, made
payable to The Robert Frost Foundation. Mail entries and fee to: Poetry
Award, The Robert Frost Foundation, Heritage Place, 439 South Union
Street, Lawrence, MA 01843. Email submissions should be sent to:
frostfoundation@comcast.net. They will be held until reading fees are
received via regular mail.
