About the International 3-Day Novel Contest

Can you produce a masterwork of fiction in three short days? Now is
your chance to find out. This year's 3-Day Novel Contest will run
Labour Day Weekend, August 30 - September 1, 2008. Registration must be postmarked by August 29th. All writers are welcome to enter, anywhere in the world.

The 3-Day Novel Contest is a thrill, a grind, and an awesome
creative experience. It has inspired thousands of first drafts and
countless good ideas. How many crazed plotlines, coffee-stained pages,
pangs of doubt and moments of genius will this year’s contest bring
forth? And what will you think up under pressure?

Grand Prize: Publication
2nd Prize: $500
3rd Prize: $100
And a literary prize pack for each shortlisted entrant.

How It Works

The prizes make a good goal to keep you going, but the contest’s
true rewards go to everyone who gives it their all: the 72-hour exile
of writers block, bragging rights afterward, an amazing mental
kick-start, and a shiny new first draft your novel.

To sign up, read the rules, get your registration
in the mail by August 29, make a few outline notes (if you wish) and
then, you know, just simply write an entire novel over the three days
of the Labour Day long weekend. You can do it! Keep energized, stay
hydrated, keep your goal in sight and let the momentum of the contest
charge your creativity and break through your blocks. Print up your
masterwork, stick it in an envelope and mail to us for judging. We'll
announce the best novels in January, hand out some prizes, and send a
fancy certificate to everyone who delivered a novel. Then we publish the winner!
