Over The Edge Now

I'm into song titles of late apparently. Don't know who sang the song with the line "I'll be over the edge now in no time at all" but boy, it sure was an appropriate one to use to label me this past weekend!

I was really on the brink of going "over the edge" there for awhile. Friday was a bit of a close call for me.

The reason for my recent near plunge stems from a week's worth of issues that had a really rough impact on my life.

First, there was the so-called "routine" colonoscopy - actually overdue by about a year - but done to try to keep tabs on any new developments in my colon. I had a colon resection done three years ago to remove a malignancy, had chemo, radiation, more chemo too and to date, my tests had all been coming back pretty clean. However, the past year, off and on, I had been noticing a lot of issues with my colon, my bowels, so I was somewhat concerned over this test.

Bad Days; Good Days

All kinds of old song lines are running through my mind this morning - some of them I think I have the line correct - others, well I'm not so sure.

I do confuse easily at times.

Is there one that goes "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down?" I think so, but I'm a tad foggy on that.

If there is, just change the day there to Sunday and it captures the moment for me today.

I'm watching - sort of - the moving "Pay It Forward" in between writing a snippet here and there. The theory put forth in the movie - do a good deed to three people who, in turn do something to change things for three more and watch it grow forward is an idea that fascinates me. Darned good idea there, I do believe.

Am I a Writer?

There's a good question for me to try to answer for myself, but more, it's my question to others about me, about my abilities, about the things I enjoy reading about, the things I like to write about and the venue I prefer to use for whatever writing talents I may possess.

I've loved to read since I was a very small child - I learned to read when I was about 3-4 years old through my Grandfather reading children's books to me and apparently - or so my mother told me - I learned the words so well, I knew when Grandpa changed the text on me. I don't know for sure there, just know I knew how to read and loved books and magazines, newspapers even, by the time I started first grade and over 50 years later, my love of reading has only diminished due to my needing new glasses to be able to see the text better!
