On writing a short story 101

How would a writer motivate myself to continuously write? Would he think about fame, money, or perhaps the Nobel prize, or just simply enjoy the thing he is doing? To this time I have a lot of unfinished stories---no ending. I hate to think about it. I hope maybe someday I will finish them. Would one's motivation upon writing the story affect its outcome? I recollect that I did have different reasons on writing each stories I have made. Could it be that if I rewrite a certain story of mine in the future it would have another outcome? Yesterday I took all my manuscripts and scan and read them randomly.

I am 29 years old and I still have doubts with myself regarding my talent --- do I have it? Or am I just making this up to uplift myself to overcome the insecurities. I know how to dance, I know how to paint too. But those talent of mine were poorly developed. And now I am trying my hand in writing. I couldn't make up my mind---always starting a new endeavour. I don't consider myself a writer. Anyway, how can one be a writer? Does he need to have a published work? Or does he need other people's confirmation of the title he wants? What if for example, I say I am a writer and I don't care if people would contest to that.
