The Next President of Cuba
Submitted by h_amran on Sat, 2006-08-05 21:41.Raul Castro Ruz was born on June 3, 1931. While studying social sciences, he joined Socialist Youth, a Communist – affiliated movement. Along with his brother Fidel, Raul took part in the failed revolt against the dictator Fulgencio Batista at Moncada Barracks on that fateful day of July 26, 1953. After two years being held prisoners, both Fidel & Raul were released as part of the general amnesty.
In 1955, Raul and Fidel fled to Mexico. While there, they reorganized the 26th of July Movement into a discipline guerilla force. On December 2, 1956, the Castro brothers sailed to Cuba from Mexico in the yacht named ‘Granma’, together with 80 other rebels. The revolt attempt was unsuccessful and the remaining rebels waged guerilla war from the mountains.
America At War
Submitted by h_amran on Fri, 2006-07-28 16:38.I did some research in the Internet regarding America's direct involvement and interventions in wars fought on American soil and some foreign lands. From what I've found out, the US of A has been constantly at war since 1622 until the present day. Check this out:
1622 – 1890 : Indian Wars
1689 – 1763 : Anglo – French Colonial Wars
1753 – 1763 : French – Indian War
1763 – 1775 : American Revolution
1775 – 1783 : War for Independence
1812 : War of 1812 (USA - Great Britain)
1845 – 1848 : Mexican – American War
1861 – 1865 : American Civil War
1898 – 1902 : Spanish – American War
How To Mend a PC?
Submitted by h_amran on Mon, 2006-07-24 11:46.My computer freaked me out last Saturday. As usual, I woke up early in the morning and after I was done with my routine, I switched the computer on. To my surprise, nothing happened. The computer didn't even boot itself on. It was quite strange because it was okay the night before. So, I took out a screwdriver and had the casing removed. Not knowing really what to do, I tried my luck poking here and there with the screwdriver. I even removed and replaced the hard disk. And some wires too. Still, that thing failed to turn on.
But all hopes were still not lost. I have faced situations like this before. There were times when the picture on the TV suddenly shrunk, or my guitar amplifier failed to produce a sound. So, I spanked the CPU casing real hard. Then, I tried to switch the PC on again. Voila! The spanking worked.
I Am a Victorious Quitter!
Submitted by h_amran on Thu, 2006-07-20 12:50.If you asked me what was the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life, I would tell you it was saying goodbye to my smoking habit. A year has passed since the last day I inhaled nicotine into my body system. Prior to that day, I had been a nicotine addict for 15 years.
My romance with nicotine began when I was 15. At first, I just wanted to feel what smoking was like. From the day I lit up my first cigarette, I slowly turned from an occasional to a heavy smoker. Salem, Kent, Dunhill, Benson & Hedges, Marlboro, Camel, Mild Seven, Rough Rider, Matterhorn, Winston, Perilly’s, More, and Lucky Strike… I had smoked them all. I even smoked some cigars and gave a shot at chewing tobacco.
Who Built Stonehenge?
Submitted by h_amran on Wed, 2006-07-19 11:12.Stonehenge is a mysterious piece of ancient architectural wonder. Nobody really knows why it was built. I always wonder why anyone would care to build that useless, gargantuan monument of stone. From my imagination, maybe this was what could have happened in Amesbury, County Wiltshire, England, some time around 2500 B.C. to 2000 B.C. ago:
It was another dull day in the good ol’ Britannia. Five young men; Alfric, Godwulf, Leofric, Wulfgar, and Godmann spent most of their free hours loitering in the forest nearby their village. Bored with their routine lives, those five buddies decided to do something different. They were thinking about constructing a nice loitering park in the woods.
Have You Seen The Electronic Dumping Ground?
Submitted by h_amran on Wed, 2006-07-19 11:09.I know this sounds a little weird but there’s one question that keeps puzzling my mind lately: Where would all those files in the Recycle Bin go after we deleted them? Would there be a place in the CPU that functions like an electronic dumping ground? Or maybe there is something similar to an electronic incinerator there?
It is much easier to figure it out with a real trash. All those trashes we throw will go straight to the dumping ground or the incinerator. But what would happen to all those files that we deleted from our computers? Where did they really go?
Howdy'
Submitted by h_amran on Wed, 2006-07-19 11:03.I would like to welcome you all to my blog. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Hussaini bin Amran. I am from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For those of you who are not sure where Malaysia is, or probably never heard of my country, get yourself a globe. You may find my country is located somewhere in Southeast Asia, sandwiched between Singapore and Thailand.
I graduated in December 1997 with a B. Sc. in Business Economics from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Now, I am working as a Customer Service Executive with a telecommunications company. To tell you the truth, I hate the job. But, I need money to support my living. I've been changing jobs for six times now since graduation. I don't know how long I'm gonna hold on this one. Consider myself an active job hopper.
