CALL FOR SUBMISSION

CAVITE YOUNG WRITERS ASSOCIATION, INC.

PRESS RELEASE
July 19, 2008

Sustaining its efforts to promote Caviteño literature and encourage the participation of Caviteño writers, readers and observers, the Cavite Young Writers Association is now accepting contributions for the second volume of its literary journal, Paliparan.

Named after a town in Dasmariñas, Cavite that used to be an aircraft runway and field, Paliparan will serve as a launch pad for works and insights on Cavite culture, history and experience. Writings about Cavite will be made known outside the confines of a classroom, house, even of a local watering hole or eatery.

Moreover, as its first volume suggested, Paliparan will also serve as an avenue for “first drafts, unfinished writings, and abandoned works,” with the aim to cultivate each writer’s works. Publishing, after all, is neither the beginning nor the end of a writer’s career.

Kindly send in your poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, research and criticisms to cavyoung@gmail.com. Submissions from non-Caviteños are also welcome, as long as the works relate to, or were written in Cavite. Submissions may be in English or Tagalog, and should be inArial typeface, double-spaced for prose and single-spaced for poetry. Kindly include a short bio-note of the author. Deadline is on August 10, 2008. For inquiries, please contact Paliparan editor-in-chief Sandy Miguel (09167923338) or CYWA President Ronald Verzo (09165473722).
