the aixm 5 standard is defined jointly by eurocontrol and the faa in order to support international air navigation information exchange using the latest international and icao standards. aixm 5 allows leveraging existing technologies while at the same time enabling the digital handling of notams, and merging static and dynamic data into a single exchange format.

today, luciad's aixm 5 technology is already used in the eurocontrol digital notam trials, eurocontrol skyview 2, and the faa special user air spaces project. the company's advanced solutions are also featured in the ogc ows-6 initiative for research on aixm 5 in a web services environment.
