MGM BLOG: NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER NORBERTO GONZALES SHOULD RESIGN POSTHASTE
National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales is at it again. He thinks the Filipino people are stupid and can be easily duped. Earlier this month, he was mouthing things about “iron fist” governance; now he wants a transition government, saying that the 2010 election will not be credible unless the COMELEC is headed by somebody like Christian Monsod. He is also trying to peddle the idea that a new constitution drafted by the transition council will be best for the country, implying that the motivation behind his proposal is his undying love for this country!
Really??? Or is it his undying loyalty to GMA and love for the power that such obsequiousness brings? The answer is so obvious that one may be tempted to snicker were it not for the fact that we are dealing here with a very serious matter: attempts to fool the Filipino people in order to prolong GMA’s stay in Malacanang!
If Mr. Gonzales is sincere about his proposal then he should advise GMA to step down in order to pave the way for an honest-to-goodness transition government. His suggestion that GMA should be a part of the transition government even as she retains her powers as Commander in Chief of the AFP is a clever scheme to retain control of the government beyond June, 2010.
Mr. Gonzales has again demonstrated his lack of respect for the collective intelligence of the Filipino people.
Mr. Gonzales has insulted the members of the COMELEC; he has insulted the Chief Justice; and he has insulted the Filipino people! And what is worse, he has lost faith in the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines which his superior, GMA, has solemnly sworn to preserve and defend!
Mr. Gonzales should resign posthaste. He does not deserve his current position as National Security Adviser. He is a dangerous public official who is full of ideas that if implemented would bring about social chaos and upheavals. GMA should demand his resignation.
GMA’s refusal to let Mr. Gonzales go would mean that the idea of a transition government either came from her or has her approval.
Ah, Power! Why is it so hard to say good-bye to you?
