This early, the Supreme Court should have a contingency plan on how to resolve without much delay issues that might be raised before it in connection with the candidacies of Erap and GMA should the two file their certificates of candidacy.

Without such a plan, the probability of the 2010 elections being derailed will be extremely high which in turn may raise the probability of an EDSA III.

It is therefore incumbent on the advisers of Erap and GMA to dissuade them from pursuing further their ambitions for the sake of the Filipino people. Both of them have been given the opportunity to lead this country and should now devote the rest of their lives to promoting unity among the Filipinos rather than venturing into divisive undertakings that will only impede national progress.

More than any other institution, the Supreme Court of the Philippines should be the first to recognize the extremely crucial impact the 2010 Elections will have on the future of this country.

This blogger believes that at this critical juncture in our history the Supreme Court, as the last bastion of democracy, will not fail the Filipino nation.
