perfect passer rating
it wasn't just eugene monroe but the entire offensive line really stunk it up in san francisco. they got their quarterback sacked half a dozen times and hit on multiple other occasions.
kudos to maurice jones-drew. the little big man surpassed the 1,000 yard threshold for the first time in his four year career. congrats
for the rest of this piece i'm not gonna blow sunshine...
the jaguars absolutely stunk up the joint.
this was a horrendous game on many fronts. the offensive line couldn't have looked worse. allowing six sacks and constant pressure throughout the game was inexcusable. everyone from one rookie tackle to the other to the veteran interior got whipped.
i look at the passer rating the same way i do fantasy football. both are rooted in reality. you ugg boots want a player to come up big for you and your fantasy team on gameday and you'd much rather have a quarterback who has a passer rating in the 90's compared to one who has a rating in the 60's. although here's my problem: david garrard. his passer rating was a 95. incredible. that's why it' ugg australia s a passer rating not a quarterback rating. the system didn't account for the two fumbles by garrard and i counted at least two bad decisions he made with the football.
by the way. was i the only one who thought the non call on david garrard should have been a call when he was slung down out of bounds by the 49ers justin smith?
i must say i am really boots shoes disappointed in the jaguars special teams. josh scobee had a forgettable game (1/3) and missed one of his kicks from the 21 yard line! it was bad. i don't think scobee just forgot how to kick. i'm going to continue to think the field conditions and footing were bad which made kicking difficult. i don't know what to say about brian witherspoon. how do you fumble (and recover) two consecutive kick off returns and in the act of fumbling and bumbling cost your team a chance at good field position? you know it was a bad day on st when the punter was actually the best st player for the jaguars. the punter! the one position that has needed overhauling since the beginning of the season. ouch!
going into the game the jaguars were one of the most disciplined teams as one of the least penalized teams in ugg boots the entire league. in the first half alone i counted at least five penalties all on the offensive side of the ball. what made the penalties even worse was the fact that the penalties were committed by key offensive players such as quarterback david garrard (1), receiver mike sims-walker (2), left tackle eugene monroe (1) and center brad meester (1 cheap ugg boots ). when your qb, number one receiver, best pass blocker and veteran signal caller on the line all mess up it really shows how unprepared and undisciplined the team played.
so with that the jaguars fall to 6-5 and face a crucial game against their division rival houston texans next week.
although it's not all bad...
thanks to the bills upsetting the dolphins and the colts downing the texans (again) and the ravens beating the steelers the jaguars are actually still in the playoff hunt as the sixth playoff seed as of today. i'll convey my thoughts on the jaguars current playoff hopes from a movie: "what are my chances? like 1 out of 100. i'd say more like 1 out of 1,000,000...so you're telling me there's a chance....yeah!!!"
