Press Release for All Saints' Day blog novel
PRESS RELEASE:
ALL SAINTS' DAY (SUPER-NATURAL HEROES)
BLOG NOVEL
If these saints can make it in New York, they can make it anywhere…
Seattle, Washington--U.S.A, Patricia L. Herlevi blogged her entire metaphysical comic novel, All Saints' Day (Super-Natural Heroes), as part of a literary experiment. Although the novel began as a free write, a marriage between famous Christian saints, Francesco of Assisi and Jeanne D'Arc of France emerged and ignited a comic journey that fused magic realism with slapstick comedy; supernatural abilities with human frailties.
Inspired by Catholic saints that graced her mother's collection of Catholic school cards and the animated super heroes of Patricia's childhood, All Saints' Day marries ancient and modern sensibilities. Although the novel was originally written as a book manuscript, its short chapters lend itself to the blogosphere. And in fact, readers as far away as the Philippines and China have been regular visitors to the All Saints' Novel blog.
Set in Manhattan, Jesus Christ returns as a Afro-American activist, Magdalene as a magical healer, and Teresa of Àvila and Teresa of Liseaux return as Siamese cats. Francesco of Assisi and Jeanne D'Arc can't consummate their illegal marriage and Catherine of Alexandria desperately seeks a suitable immortal mate that isn't afraid of her two jungle cats. Other characters include, Simon Magus, Apostles Peter and Paul, the Virgin Mary, and Anthony of Padua (founder of lost objects). Christian and pagan themes intertwine in an atmosphere of alternative healing, supernatural events and modern iconography.
While All Saints' Day (Super-Natural Heroes), won't save the world, after the belly laughing subsides, readers from diverse backgrounds get a glimpse of humanity's foibles. And through the eyes of ancient teachers who fumble their way through contemporary circumstances, we too can seek worldly wisdom on a planet that sometimes makes little sense, if any sense at all.
If All Saints' Day can make it in the blogosphere, it can make it anywhere…
